Robin Hood may be the outlaw of Sherwood Forest, but he lives a life of merriment with his band of followers. Anyone needing food or a place to live is welcome in the forest. The citizens of Sherwood Forest oppose the tyranny of Prince John who has taken over while King Richard the Lion-hearted has gone to the Holy Land on a crusade.

Lady Merle of Cornwall tries to pacify the people by forcing Robin’s childhood sweetheart, the lovely Maid Marion, into marrying John.

Robin Hood and his band rebel against the marriage of Marian and Prince John, defeat the nasty sheriff and secure Nottingham for the king's return.

Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, Soldier
Never fear, Robin’s here! Hi, ho! What, no happy greeting? Kind of the Sheriff to deliver you in person. I suspect he wants no more trouble from Robin. And this young lady is his bribe. A fine bribe it is, too. I’ll have you free in a moment, Marian. Sorry about that mishap at Nottingham Castle. In the dark anything can happen. Annabel is well, she’ll be happy to see you.

Sheriff, (speaking to Lady Merle)
No, No M’lady. You misjudge me. It’s not cowardice.... It’s, uh, uh, uh – military strategy. Yes, that’s it. Military strategy. Let’s away to the castle. My wife and my daughter are anxious to meet you.

Beth, Mother Meg, and Widow:
If you are looking for Robin Hood, you’ve come to the right place. Sherwood Forest, in the country of Nottingham. If you’re poor, if you’re hungry, if you’re a victim of the wicked sheriff and his cruel ways—this is the place for you. No questions asked.

Maid Marian, Annabel
Ladies, Ladies, is this all you can think of? Dresses and marriage? When I think that poor Robert could be out there with an arrow in his back...

Lady Merle:
Sit down! Citizens of Nottingham, it’s true we live in troubled times. Life is not easy and that is why the Sheriff has generously declared a holiday. A Fair for one and all. To enjoy and to cherish. On this day, let us put aside differences and animosities. We are all English men and women. Instead of growling at one another, let us show courtesy and goodwill.

Sheriff’s Wife, Salome
ooooooh. So much to do. Busy, busy, Busy. It’s not easy to be a grrrrreat lady. A grrrrrrrrrrrreat lady has so many social obligations. A Grrrrrrreat lady never has time to rest. Being wife to the Sheriff of Nottingham is a grrrrreat responsibility. Let’s see, we’ll have an apple dunking contest, a Morris dance, a greased pig frolic , a hot cider booth, a joust and, oh, yes --- the archer contest. Busy , Busy, Busy.

All ladies must give us the most obnoxious laugh they can.

Younger children who may not comfortable reading anything from above, or who are unable to read .

Robin! Robin, where are you? Robin Hood!

Thank you!

Robin Hood the Musical’s Production Staff

All children over the age of 9 must have their parents sign this page in case they would receive a role that will be a part of the fight scene that will be staged as a real sword fight. Brad Senffner is a certified fight master and he will be choreographing the fights. We will be using real weighted swords. The children will be instructed on the proper use and safety of the swords.

The children involved in the sword fight will need to attend Saturday afternoon rehearsals as we will do all that staging separate from regular rehearsals.

Included in these roles will be Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, Little John, Robin’s band member 1 & 2, Soldier1, Soldier 2, Sheriff, Extra Soldier 1, Extra Soldier 2, Stranger.

My child __________________________ has my permission to be a part of the “staged” sword fight in Robin Hood the Musical”. I understand that real swords will be used and there will be Saturday afternoon rehearsals for the choreography of this part of the show.
